What is it?

This all-in-one 9-DOF (degrees of freedom) sensor fusion breakout board can enhance your Arduino project with motion, direction, and orientation sensing capabilities. The sensor chip comprises three sensors, including a traditional 3-axis accelerometer, which detects the direction of gravity, enabling you to determine the Earth's downward direction or the board's acceleration in 3D space. Another sensor is a 3-axis magnetometer that senses the strongest magnetic force source, usually utilized to identify magnetic north. The third sensor is a 3-axis gyroscope that measures spin and twist. With the integration of these sensors' data, you can very accurately orient yourself using this sensor fusion technology.

With a linear acceleration full scale range of ±2g/±4g/±6g/±8g/±16g, a magnetic field full-scale range of ±2/±4/±8/±12 gauss, and an angular rate range of ±245/±500/±2000 dps, the LSM9DS0 is a versatile system. It can detect motion and magnetic fields and can be configured to generate interrupt signals on specific pins. The end-user can program the interrupt generator's thresholds and timing to suit their requirements.

To use it, connect the board to a microcontroller using I2C interface. This board uses 3.3V I2C logic levels. Refer to the datasheet & open source Arduino library files to learn how to use all the functions of the chip!
